It was a tough start to the season at home for Newbury. We suffered some injuries and struggled against a tough Wallingford side. Our joint players of the match for this game were Emma Naylor & Charlotte Brennan, both new to the club this season and clearly making an impact from the start. They both put in an incredible effort. It was great to see a couple of our new players in action and can't wait to see how they progress throughout the season.

A difficult game with plenty of positives to take away. Early on in the second half saw Chloe Mitchard score our first goal of the season, when the ball fell to her in the box, and she calmly slotted it home. We also saw our Manager Megan Kirby hit the crossbar late in the second half with an effort from just outside the box.

However, despite the girls' impressive efforts we didn't see the results we wanted. Our Player of the Match went to Lauren Hanson for her leadership, communication and tough work within our backline.
